The work of multimedia artist Susan Hefuna, born in 1962
in Germany takes up everyday aspects of life
with which she — through photography, video, drawing and digital media — explores the indeterminacy of location and identity and her negotiation of her own identity. Much of Hefuna's work is informed by her dual heritage, which often features striking images of family, interior spaces and cityscapes in and around Cairo. Her work has been widely exhibited such venues as Louvre Paris (2004/2005), Townhouse Gallery, Cairo (2004), Bluecoat Arts Centre, Liverpool (2004), Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken (2004), House of World Cultures, Berlin (2003), Biennale Bamako 2003), and many more. |
